CONCEPT PAPER TEMPLATE

PROJECT NAME:

-          Paws & Plates

INTODUCTION:

-       In an effort to foster a compassionate and inclusive campus environment, this concept paper explores the implementation of shelters and designated food stations for dogs and cats within Philippine Christian University (PCU). The mission is to create a safe haven for these animals, providing them with shelter, sustenance, and care while promoting a sense of responsibility and empathy among the university community. Through this initiative, we can uphold the vision of PCU as a nurturing and socially responsible institution where the welfare of all living beings is prioritized. We envision a harmonious coexistence between humans and animals, aligning with the university's commitment to holistic education and the well-being of the community.

PURPOSE:

-      Within PCU, the absence of designated shelters for our resident animals raises a pressing concern. This oversight not only exposes our beloved creatures to harsh elements but also leaves them vulnerable to airborne diseases like canine distemper virus, canine parvovirus, or cat flu, jeopardizing the overall well-being of our canine and feline companions.

Furthermore, the implementation of a dedicated food station for PCU pets would not only organize the feeding process but also simplify the efforts of school staff or compassionate students who wish to contribute. Eliminating the need to search for separate food bowls, a specific feeding area ensures a hassle-free experience, encouraging greater community involvement in caring for our campus animals.

As humans, we recognize the inherent right of every living being, including our furry friends, to a life of comfort. By affording them the basic necessities of shelter and regular meals, we extend the same consideration to these companions, improving our collective responsibility for their welfare and reinforcing the bond we share within the PCU family.

DESCRIPTION:

-    This concept paper outlines the detailed plan for the implementation of the "Paws & Plates" project within Philippine Christian University (PCU). The proposed project consists of two primary components: shelters for dogs and cats and designated food stations for these animals.

Shelters:

The shelters will be strategically located across the PCU campus to provide a safe and comfortable place for the resident dogs and cats. These shelters will be designed to protect the animals from harsh weather conditions and potential health risks. Each shelter will be equipped with appropriate bedding, ensuring the well-being and warmth of the animals during bad weather. Additionally, the design will incorporate ventilation to maintain a favorable environment for the animals' health. The shelters will be marked with clear signage and integrated into the campus landscape, emphasizing the university's commitment to the welfare of its animal residents.

Food Stations:

The concept also includes the establishment of designated food stations where PCU pets can be fed. These stations will be strategically located near the shelters, organizing the feeding process for both the animals and caretakers. The feeding areas will include standardized food bowls, eliminating the need for individuals to search for or provide separate containers. This organized approach will simplify the efforts of school staff, students, or any compassionate individuals involved in contributing to the well-being of the campus animals. Clear guidelines and procedures will be established to ensure hygienic and systematic feeding practices, promoting a healthier environment for both the animals and the community.

Implementation Strategy:

The implementation of the "Paws & Plates" project will follow a phased approach. An initial assessment of suitable locations for shelters and food stations will be conducted in collaboration with campus stakeholders. The project team will work closely with animal welfare experts to ensure that the shelters meet the highest standards of comfort and safety for the animals. Simultaneously, an awareness campaign will be launched to educate the PCU community about the project's goals, encouraging active participation and support

Monitoring and Evaluation:

To ensure the success of the project, a monitoring and evaluation system will be established. Regular inspections of the shelters, food stations, and the overall well-being of the animals will be conducted. Feedback from the PCU community will be actively sought to address any concerns or suggestions for improvement. This iterative process will contribute to the continuous enhancement of the "Paws & Plates" initiative, reinforcing PCU's commitment to holistic education, community well-being, and the humane treatment of all living beings within its campus.
